Safe and Healthy Schools Internet
Gateway(1999-2002)
With funding from Health Canada,
CAP is working with several other national organizations to build and maintain
an Internet Gateway web site on safe and healthy schools. This web site identifies and
links to hundreds of selected online resource, research and planning documents.
Kidproof Canada (child
safety) Inc. and the S.C.A.T. Elementary School Program. S.C.A.T. stands for "Stop Child Abduction
Today" and follows the Healthy Living - Personal Safety strand of the
current Ontario School Curriculum for SK through grade five. This dynamic
program gives children the knowledge and skills they require to protect
themselves against abduction. The program is endorsed by Law Enforcement, School
Boards, Health Professionals, Media and Parents of
children who have participated in the program.
The Inclusive Schools Checklist
The Inclusive Schools Checklist is a reliable and valid tool that identifies 76 potential architectural barriers (for the entrance way, ramps, entrance door, passageways, washrooms, signage and safety features, water fountains, elevators, classrooms, stairs and hand rails, library, and recreational facilities), 44 potential inclusive classroom practices and 23 potential school/school board inclusive policies.
